People
were not educated in that process about their duty to adhere to
righteousness at all times. Baptization became a mere process for
conversion to Christianity without any emphasis on righteousness.
This brought in hypocrisy of which Jesus was warning to his
followers. We see today that same hypocrisy in the form of Roman
Catholic Church is haunting the Spirit of Jesus. There was emphasis
on pardon by the Holy Spirit from all sins if they join the band of
Christians by merely performing baptization. This in due course led
the people away from the true message of Jesus. All this began at the
time of Peter and his other companions when he began to tell the
newly converts that they will be saved from their sins if they get
baptized and that propaganda worked well to swell the number of
followers to Christianity. Populous promises were given out to
attract the maximum number to Christianity. Looking to the false
promises those earned them much support from the gentry. That means
the Church under guidance of Peter and following priest such as Paul
and many more destroyed the very essence of Jesus' teachings though
they earned quick support from the masses. It was not the way; Jesus
expected them to do. People were never warned that father in the
heaven, God, shall punish if they drift away from the principles of
righteousness. Mere baptization is no license to god's promise. On
the contrary, Peter and his companions mislead masses by making
populous promises that, they can indulge in wrong doings and by
merely praying at Church in the name of Jesus and giving occasional
confession to Church they will be saved by the Son of God, Jesus.
Things went in wrong direction at the very beginning of Christian
Church moment. Therefore, in fact, present Church does not truly
represent Jesus. See some populous promises made by the Church on
behalf of Jesus without his permission.
Acts
2:38 Peter replied, “Repent and be
baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the
forgiveness of your sins. In addition, you will receive the gift of
the Holy Spirit.
Acts
2:39 The promise is for you and your
children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God
will call.”
Acts
3:19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that
your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from
the Lord,
Church
began to give promises on behalf of Jesus without proper authority
and people were swayed by those populous promises. Church was talking
like a business agent, which was wrong for Jesus, his ideology as
well as the followers. Many false and preposterous promises they give
and mislead the followers. In doing this, Church does injustice to
its mentor, Lord Jesus. Melodramatic appeals, emotionizing and by
that hypnotizing was a common method they applied while preaching and
catching on people. Peter repeatedly asked people to repent, but
never told what he meant by that. How one should repent? Neither
anybody bothered to ask him nor did he ever bother to elaborate on
that. The whole process depended on catching on the guilt conscious
of the followers about what wrong they may be indulging in their
life.
