To prove the
fellowship of the believers a common practice was introduced that
continues until this day.
Acts
2:42
They devoted themselves to
the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread
and to prayer.
The epithet
Christian was first used in Antioch.
Acts
11:26
and when he found him
(Saul), he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and
Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The
disciples were called 'Christians' first at Antioch.
We
shall take a few examples to understand difference in Jesus and
Church approach to sinful acts. In this example, we take A for the
man, M for other men or society and G for God of Jesus and g for god
of Church. As per Jesus if M trouble A, and as a reaction if A also
trouble M then G will punish both A and M for their bad mutual
behavior. If M treat A good but A treat M bad then G will reward M
for its good work and punish A for its bad behavior towards M. If A
treat M good and M treat A good then both will be rewarded by G. In
this example however if we see how 'God of Church', 'g', will behave
with A and M we see that whatever way A and M work with each other
'g' will always reward both, provided they appeal to Church for
forgiveness for any of their wrong deeds. Here Church takes the
responsibility to give them pardon from 'g' by using its good offices
with 'g'! This promise of Church is not authentic since Jesus has
called all priesthood as hypocrisy. Therefore, we should not trust
this promise of church. God of Jesus does not pardon ad hoc, God is
selective in his pardon. That means, if we want God to reward us we
have to be righteous in our behavior all our life and we need not
bother to approach Church for that. Opposing evil deed and the doer
amounts to righteousness and so Jesus expects his followers to do
that and keep wrong people in check wherever it is possible. Jesus
has said in one verse in Mathew's gospel that the one who will do it
will be rewarded by Father in Heaven. In Church method, they try to
frighten faithful by introducing fear for God and tell them that if
they do such and such a thing, god will punish and through this
chiding Church expects to force them to be righteous with others or
Church. Whereas Jesus expects that followers be good by their own
conscience and not due to fear in them for God. Jesus says God is not
to be afraid of, but to support like that of mother.
